Panel: “The Cloud: Different Approaches to Its Management, Security, and Uses”

On December 2, 2014, the Faculty of Engineering hosted the panel discussion “The Cloud: Different Approaches to Its Management, Security, and Uses,” organized by the professional development Center and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Specialists from various fields and with different perspectives addressed the management, security, and commercial aspects of the Cloud in an open and dynamic panel format, moderated by questions and discussions on the topic.

They also presented the new developments introduced by the recent ISO 27018 standard, an international standard on cloud security.

Presentations:

- “The Cloud Today: An Introduction to the Topic and the Security of Data Handled Within It.”
Speakers: Mauricio Campiglia, Information Security Specialist at IBM and professor of Computer Security, Ethical Hacking, and Incident Management at the School of Engineering.


- “Regulatory Aspects of ‘The Cloud’ – ISO 27018.”
Speakers: Gabriel Fernández, coordinator of UNIT’s Information Technology committees and member of UNIT’s Systems Certification Department, and Roberto Ambrosoni, academic coordinator of professional development Faculty of professional development Center, Head of the Information Systems Department, and responsible for Information Security Management at the Ministry of National Defense.

- “The Uruguayan Government’s Vision of Cloud Security (Decree 92/2014). Legal Perspective on the Cloud.”
Speakers: Santiago Paz, Director of the Uruguayan Cybersecurity Incident Response Center and professor in the Professional Development Program in Information Security at the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Jimena Hernández, legal advisor to AGESIC (Agency for E-Government and the Information and Knowledge Society) and the Regulatory and Personal Data Control Unit.

- “The Business Perspective on the Cloud: Usage Options, Success Stories, and Applications.”
Speakers: Jorge Cella, Director of Technology and Corporate Citizenship, and Daniel Guimenez, Head of Network and Communications Infrastructure at Schandy.
