The GPSGAY app, created by Magdalena Rodríguez, a graduate of the Bachelor of Graphic Design program, and Rosario Monteverde, a graduate of the Systems Engineering program, won the People’s Choice Award at the 2015 Mobile Premier Awards, held in Barcelona on March 2, 2015.

This app is currently receiving support from the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) for its development.

After being named the best app from Uruguay in the AppCircus competition held in November 2014, its creators traveled to Spain to participate in the international competition.

The Mobile Premier Awards selected 16 apps worldwide, based on the winners of the various local competitions, to participate in the contest.

Three awards were distributed among them: one for the best app, awarded by the jury, and two others determined by public voting via Twitter.

GPSGAY is a Uruguayan social network aimed at the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community, which has had more than 150,000 users since 2013.
