Exhibition: “Nomadic Furniture Design 2015”

August 29, 2015
From July 28 to August 4, 2015, the “Nomadic Furniture Design 2015” exhibition was held on the Downtown Campus. It featured furniture prototypes created by students in the Industrial Design 3 – Production Feasibility course of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, under the guidance of professors DI Maximiliano Izzi and DI Pablo D’Angelo. This exhibition was supported by MOD – online designer furniture.

In Uruguay, mobility has adapted to the country’s unique characteristics. Consequently, there is a need for furniture that people can buy, transport, and assemble themselves, thereby reducing costs. The solution to this problem is the concept of RTA (ready-to-assemble) furniture , which IKEA has popularized worldwide. The furniture designed by the students is based on this premise.

The students who presented were: María Mercedes Aguirre, Clarisa Sofía Bielawski, Natalia Burjel, Alejandro Cabello, Melanie Cobham, Ana Claudia Díaz Melli, Pablo Fandiño, Camila Valentina Garcia de Zuñiga, Paloma Gervas, Andrea Daniela Labandera, Catalina López Hounié, Federico Guillermo Martínez Bariani, Joaquina María Mengot, Romina Przepiorka, Natalie Schuch, Mireya Suárez Millán, and Andrés Ignacio Viotti.
