Architecture students exhibited their work from the Direct Observation Sketch Competition

October 28, 2015
From October 29 to November 5, 2015, an exhibition of the works submitted to the 7th Annual Direct Observation Sketching Competition was held in the lobby of the School of Architecture. The competition was organized as part of the Architectural Drawing 1 course.

The call for entries required the submission of two drawings that served as the culmination of an exercise in which participants were asked to produce 10 hand-drawn sketches based on direct observation.

The assignment aimed to introduce students to the practice of surveying built spaces and landscapes through an appreciation of proportions, as well as to expose them to a range of spaces and buildings of varying scales and degrees of complexity, characterized by their recognized architectural value.

The competition promoted the creation of a product of collective identity through the integration of individual works and also sought to foster self-criticism and reflection through the appreciation of the diversity of the submitted works.

The jury was composed of Architect Gastón Boero, dean of the faculty; Architect Jorge Migues, instructor of Drawing and Studio 1 in the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design; and Architect Pablo Raviolo, full professor of Architectural Drawing.
