Architect Hakas volunteered with WIZO, Keren Hayesod, and Keren Kayemet Leisrael, an organization of which she served as president; she was honored with an entry in the Golden Book in recognition of her work and currently serves as its honorary president.
In 2007, she was part of an international delegation to Ethiopia to support the integration of immigrants from that community into Israel, producing a documentary with the material gathered during the trip. She has given numerous lectures and interviews on the subject at Jewish institutions, on the radio, in the press, and at the Evangelical Church Peace for the Nations.
The event was organized by the Keren Yedidut Foundation in Uruguay and the university’s Department of Jewish Studies.
