In December 2015, the Institute of Education published the peer-reviewed academic journal *Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa* (Volume 6, Issue 2) online.

Research Topics:

- “The Educational Use of ICT in Best Practices for Teaching Mathematics: A Study of the Opinions and Conceptions of Secondary School Teachers in the Department of Artigas” by Prof. Fabián Téliz, a graduate of the Master’s in Education program and mathematics teacher at the Litoral Regional Teachers’ Center.

The study analyzes the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in mathematics teaching practices, particularly in the department of Artigas, based on an analysis of teachers’ conceptions. The topic is of interest given the expansion of the Ceibal Plan to secondary education as well as the scarcity of research on the impact of ICT at that level.

-“Expectations Regarding the Search for First Employment Among University Graduates with Hybrid Education: The Case of a Mexican Public University”by Javier Damián Simón, M.A., adjunct research professor in the Department of Business Sciences at the University of Papaloapan, Oaxaca, Mexico.

Presentation of some results from a study whose main objective was to identify the factors influencing the labor market entry of university graduates.

Based on the social representations of ten graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Sciences, it was possible to identify three factors that would facilitate securing a first job: multidisciplinary training, the quality of their university education, and the prestige of their alma mater.

- “Cultural Heritage Through the Voices of Young People. A starting point for heritage education” by Prof. Adriana Careaga, a graduate of the Master’s in Public Policy program at Universidad ORT Uruguay a history teacher at the Artigas Teachers’ Institute.

This research examines the conceptions of cultural heritage held by adolescents in the first cycle of secondary education through an experiential learning-based educational proposal titled “Behind the Lost Wall,” which includes a tour of the remains of colonial fortifications combined with a music workshop.

The research focused on elucidating what young people think about cultural heritage and its relationship to the city in which they live, a perspective rarely explored in formal school education.

- “Training Strategies Developed in a State-Owned Corporate Environment in Uruguay” by
Marcelo Gambetta, B.A., holder of a Master of Business Administration (MBA)anda Master’s in Education. Change Manager at ANTEL (National Telecommunications Administration).

The study investigates whether the corporate training strategies developed in a Uruguayan state-owned enterprise are capable of bringing about behavioral change in its members that helps foster both meaningful individual and organizational learning.
