Conference: “Architects’ Commitment to Addressing Climate Change”

On February 18, 2016, the Faculty of Architecture hosted a lecture and discussion titled “Architects’ Commitment to Addressing Climate Change,” featuring participants from the self-sustaining social housing project La Casa Uruguaya, winner of the 2015 Solar Decathlon international competition.

The speakers reflected on the current challenges in the professional training of architects, who must have a solid foundation in innovation and technology to address climate change.

Architect Andrés Eliseo Cabrera
Architect. Consultant in bioclimatic architecture and solar thermal energy. Founding Partner, Cámara Solar del Uruguay. Head of Special Projects in the area of Bioclimatics (organization of events and academic programs related to the field) at the Faculty of Architecture of Universidad ORT Uruguay. Full Professor of Bioclimatic Design, Thermal Conditioning, and Workshop 7. Director of the La Casa Uruguaya LCU) Project.

Architect Isabel Corujo
Architecture graduate from Universidad ORT Uruguay. Member of the LCU communications team.

María Inés Gari

Senior student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design. Member of the LCU communications team.

Nicolás López
Senior student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Administration. Member of the LCU finance team.

The event was aimed at architects, architecture students, and those planning to pursue this degree.
