Conference: “The Impact of Terrorist Attacks on European Policy”

April 20, 2016
On April 19, 2016, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted a lecture titled “The Impact of Terrorist Attacks on European Politics,” presented by Dr. Filipe Vasconcelos Romao, a researcher at the Observatory of Foreign Relations at the Autonomous University of Lisbon.

Terrorist groups have attacked Europe on more than one occasion this century, but the violence and brutality of the recent attacks in 2015 and 2016 necessitate a change in the way internal security issues are addressed at the political level within the European Union (EU). The speaker reflected on the impact of these attacks on European policy.

Prof. Vasconcelos Romao holds a Ph.D. in International Relations (summa cum laude) from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. He holds a Diploma in Advanced Studies in International Politics and Conflict Resolution and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra.

The event was organized by the academic coordination office of the Bachelor's Degree in International Studies.
