The tournament took place from April 1 to 3, 2016, in the city of Colonia. It was organized by the University of Montevideo, with support from the Colonia Municipal Government and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Sports teams from institutions in Argentina and Uruguay participated.
In Argentina: University of Buenos Aires, Romero Brest Institute, University of Business Sciences, and University of San Andrés.
From Uruguay: Club Juventud Colonia, Club Layva, Club Colonia Valdense, Crandon Universitario, Instituto de Profesores Artigas, Instituto Superior de Educación Física, Instituto Universitario Claeh, Universidad de la Empresa, Universidad de Montevideo, Universidad ORT Uruguay Universidad de la República.
