Lecture: “An Analysis of the Situation in Syria and Its Implications for the Region”

On June 22, 2016, the Pocitos Campus hosted a lecture titled “An Analysis of the Situation in Syria and Its Implications for the Region,” presented by Dr. Alberto Spektorowski, professor of Political Theory and Comparative Politics at Tel Aviv University. The event was organized by the Department of Jewish Studies and the Department of International Studies within the School of Management and Social Sciences.
The speaker reflected on the conflict in Syria and its repercussions in the Middle East.

Spektorowski holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (United States). He served as a political advisor to former Israeli Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami, with whom he participated, alongside Palestinian officials, in the Camp David peace talks in 2000.

He is the author of the books TThe origins of Argentina's right-wing revolution (University of Notre Dame Press, 2003), The Politics of Eugenics: Productionism, Population, and National Welfare (Routledge Press, 2013) and Nationalizing Islam (forthcoming, State University of New York Press). He is a visiting professor at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
