In July 2016, the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) awarded a three-year doctoral fellowship to Prof. Sonali Correa, a research assistant at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the School of Engineering. Prof. Correa is pursuing her doctoral studies as part of the Pedeciba Chemistry program.

Her thesis focuses on hybrid nanostructures for enzyme activation mediated by magnetic hyperthermia. The research is being conducted at the faculty’s Biotechnology Laboratory, with planned visits to the Aragón Institute of Materials Science (ICMA) at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. It is supervised by Dr. Lorena Betancor, a professor and researcher at the Biotechnology Laboratory, and Dr. Valeria Grazú, a researcher at ICMA.
