The dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences, Dr. Gaston J. Labadie, delivered a welcome address. The academic coordinator of the graduate programs in Accounting and Taxation, Dr. Nicolás Gambetta, emphasized the need for Uruguayan accountants to pursue graduate studies in areas such as local taxation, international taxation, and international financial reporting standards due to the constant regulatory changes occurring at both the local and international levels, which in turn lead to an increase in the complexity of the situations on which they must advise their clients.
This was followed by an icebreaker activity led by Dr. Eduardo López de Leo, associate professor of Human Resources at the faculty.
The event concluded with a welcome cocktail reception.
