Panel Discussion: "Building a Secular Uruguay"

On Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the roundtable discussion “Building a Secular Uruguay: A Panel Discussion” will take place at the Pocitos Campus (2633 España Blvd.). Speakers will include Aurelio Gómez, assistant to the director of the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education at the University Institute of the Young Men’s Christian Association, and Rafael Winter, vice president of the Montevideo Holocaust Memorial Center. The panel will be moderated by María Sara Corebelle.

Mr. Gómez will deliver the lecture "Reflections on Culture and Secularism," and Mr. Winter will deliver the lecture "Reflections on Religion and Secularism."

Gómez holds a diploma in Educational Management and a bachelor’s degree in Anthropological Sciences. He is a researcher.

Winter holds a bachelor’s degree in Historical Sciences from the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences. He is a member of the Honorary Commission Against Racism, Xenophobia, and All Forms of Discrimination.

The event is organized by the Jewish-Christian Confederation of Uruguay and the Department of Jewish Studies at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
