Roundtable Discussion: “The Future of Electric Grids with Renewable Energy Integration and Demand Management”

On November 30, 2016, the Faculty of Engineering hosted a roundtable discussion titled “The Future of Electric Grids with Renewable Energy Integration and Demand Management,” which took place as part of the launch of the Electrical Engineering program.

Presentations:

- “Outlook for Microgeneration: The Situation in the United Kingdom and Uruguay,” presented by Eduardo Touya, Engineer and Director of Oversight at the Regulatory Authority for Energy and Water Services (Ursea). He holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from the University of the Republic and a Master of Science in ‘New and Renewable Energy’ from the University of Durham, United Kingdom.

- “Economic Operation of Electric Grids with Distributed Generation and Demand Management” by Enrique Briglia, Head of the Commercialization Project for the LNG Project and member of the faculty’s Group for Applied Mathematics in Telecommunications and Energy.

- "New Optimization Methods for Power Grids and Markets" by Dr. Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory at the faculty.
