SUM, an exhibition showcasing award-winning products in the furniture category from various national and international competitions, opened its fourth edition on December 9, 2016, at the Spanish Cultural Center. The exhibition runs through March 2017.
For the prototype publication presented, original posters displayed in academic presentations by students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Designwere selected and repurposed. They were produced in the Design and 3D Prototyping Laboratories using natural OSB board—a traditional material in furniture—combining traditional techniques with digital manufacturing methods such as CNC milling and laser cutting and engraving.
Meanwhile, the Uruguayan Design Chamber (CDU), the Furniture Design Subcommittee, and the Spanish Cultural Center (CCE) published the exhibition catalog sponsored by Universidad ORT Uruguay.
The catalog features the Trekant furniture by Natalie Schuch and Paloma Gervas, students in the Bachelor of Industrial Design program; Ovi by Sebastián Granotich, a graduate of that program; and works by Estudio Claro, whose members include María Victoria Scola and Julián San Martín, graduates of the program.
