December 23, 2016
The startups The Bot Makers, Trip Assistance, and La Máquina de Talento—whose members include graduates of the School of Engineering—were selected in December 2016 in the second edition of the Emprendetón competition, organized by CPA Innovation, the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (Cuti), the Da Vinci Foundation, and Universidad ORT Uruguay. They make up three of the four winning teams.

The teams received a $1,000 prize and have the opportunity to apply for incubation at Da Vinci Labs and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), where experts will guide them in developing their projects.

The Bot Makers, consisting of Clara Youdale, a graduate of the Systems Engineering program; César Varela, a graduate of the Systems Bachelor’s program; Osvaldo Colina; and Pablo Costa, won in the “Banking” category. Their project is a virtual assistant that allows users to access all banking services quickly and easily via chat.

Trip Assistance, led by Mauricio Gayol, a graduate of the Programmer Analyst program, and Andrés Garderes, the project selected in the “Health” category, is an automated assistance platform for travel health insurance.

Meanwhile, the project La Máquina de Talento, created by Damián Marcos, a graduate of the Systems Engineering program, and Patricia Lockling, was the winner in “Creative Industries.” It is a website where freelance workers can upload their portfolios and search for potential clients.
