April 28, 2017
On April 21, 2017, the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences hosted a conference titled “The Disruptive Impact of Blockchain on the Digital, Financial, and Accounting Worlds.” The speakers discussed blockchain technology and its potential applications in the financial sector.

Blockchain is the foundation of bitcoin (electronic currency) that maintains a public ledger of transactions carried out through a distributed network without the oversight of a central authority.

The speakers explained what it is used for, what problems it solves, what processes it improves, and, ultimately, what value it can generate for financial institutions, both through cost reduction and revenue growth.
