Dr. Fernando Paganini was elected a member of the Latin American Academy of Sciences

Dr. Fernando Paganini, professor of Telecommunications Theory in the School of Engineering, was appointed a member of the Latin American Academy of Sciences (ACAL) in April 2017. ACAL was founded in 1982 by a group of scientific researchers from Latin America and the Caribbean. has members from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Scientists from Germany, the United States, and France also participate.

Also selected were Dr. Roberto Markarian, rector the University of the Republic (Udelar), and Dr. Raúl Donángelo, a researcher at the Institute of Physics within Udelar’s School of Engineering. There are currently thirteen Uruguayan academics in ACAL.
