Lecture: “The Crisis of the Liberal World and the Rise of Nationalist Populism”

On June 28, 2017, the lecture “The Crisis of the Liberal World and the Rise of Nationalist Populism: Causes and Consequences” was held at the Pocitos Campus. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Alberto Spektorowski, professor of Political Theory and Comparative Politics at Tel Aviv University, who reflected on the current political landscape. The event was organized by the university’s Department of Jewish Studies and the Department of International Studies.

Spektorowski holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States. He served as a political advisor to former Israeli Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami, with whom he participated alongside Palestinian officials in the Camp David peace talks in 2000.

He is the author of the books *The Origins of Argentina’s Revolution of the Right* (University of Notre Dame Press, 2003), *The Politics of Eugenics: Productionism, Population, and National Welfare* ( Routledge Press, 2013), and *Nationalizing Islam* (forthcoming, State University of New York Press). He is a visiting professor at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
