Workshop: “Wood Engineering Products: The State of the Art in Uruguay”

As part of the launch of the Specialization Diploma in the Design, Analysis, and Construction of Wood Structures—a joint program between the School of Architecture at Universidad ORT Uruguay the School of Engineering at the University of the Republic—a conference titled “Wood Engineering Products: State of the Art in Uruguay” was held. The event took place on September 27, 2017, at the Pocitos Campus.

Program:

- Opening ceremony and presentation of the Specialization Diploma in Design, Analysis, and Construction of Wood Structures by Dr. Laura Moya, research professor at the School of Architecture, Universidad ORT Uruguay of Universidad ORT Uruguay Dr. Vanessa Baño, assistant professor at the Institute of Structures and Transportation, School of Engineering, University of the Republic.

- Lecture: "Strategic Plan for Structural Wood in Uruguay. Engineered Wood Products" by Dr. Baño.

- "Structural Glulam Produced in Uruguay" by Architect Carolina Pérez Gomar, research assistant for the Innovagro project, administered by Universidad ORT Uruguay.

- "Advances in the Development of Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) Panels in Uruguay" by Architect Daniel Godoy, professor at the Materials Testing Institute of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of the Republic.

- “Potential industries for the manufacture of wood products for construction in Uruguay: a pre-feasibility analysis” by Engineer Andrés Dieste, professor at the Institute of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of the Republic.
