Exhibition of Glass Fusion Artworks: "In-quietudes"

November 30, 2007
From November 13 to 30, the ORT University Exhibition Center (Cuareim 1451) will host the glass fusing exhibition "In-quietudes" by Rosina Rubio and Pablo Salgueiro, directors of the Montevideo Workshop. Trained in prestigious Montevideo workshops and having specialized through courses and study trips, they have exhibited their works at the Tile Museum, the El País Museum of Contemporary Art, the Municipal Subway, and La Lupa Libros. Their works are found in private collections in Uruguay and abroad.

In this exhibition of cast glass sculptures, the artists’ need to express their concerns as human beings converges with the malleability of the material to tell their stories. They play with reliefs, undulations, color, and bubbles to express their experiences, ideas, and feelings.

The artists describe this exhibition by stating that "these pieces arise from our own anxieties, from what moves us, from what touches us. The passage of time that leaves scars and ridges, the boundaries that are sometimes lost, the webs of life that trap us but always let in light, what we do not understand and yet allows us to dream, the imagination that soars. Glass is a wonderful material that possesses the ability to adapt, to flow, to recreate itself in new forms; sometimes even to take an unexpected path. We choose to express ourselves in this material that conveys to us, through its sensitivity, the image of change and that drives us every day to discover its possibilities."
