As part of its university outreach activities, the School of Administration and Social Sciences is carrying out the project “Teaching Economics at the Secondary Level in Uruguay: Pedagogical Elements and Economic Concepts,” aimed at secondary school teachers who currently teach or are applying to teach the Economics course.
The faculty members who will lead these workshops received specific training in secondary-level economics education from the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE) in 2007 and 2008.
This project is funded by the NCEE as part of the Educational Exchange Program, carried out through the U.S. Department of Education in coordination with the Department of State.
Two workshops will be offered: one aimed at teachers who have a basic knowledge of economics and are interested in teaching methods and techniques for the subject, and another aimed at teachers who do not have specific training in economics but who have teaching credentials, in which the economic concepts necessary for teaching economics according to the official curriculum will be provided.
These workshops will take place from January 26 to February 19, 2009.
The activity is free of charge for participants, with limited space available. To reserve a spot, email cclavijo@uni.ort.edu.uy by December 23.
