Lecture: "Plato and the Foundations of Democracy"

On Wednesday, June 23, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted a lecture titled "Plato and the Foundations of Democracy," presented by Dr. Oded Balaban, Chair of the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Haifa. The discussion was led by Prof. Javier Bonilla Saus, Academic Coordinator of International Studies.

On Wednesday, June 23, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted the lecture "Plato and the Foundations of Democracy," presented by Dr. Oded Balaban, Chair of the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Haifa. The discussion was led by Prof. Javier Bonilla Saus, Academic Coordinator of International Studies.

Prof. Balaban was born in Buenos Aires and has resided in Israel since 1967. He earned his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Haifa and a Master’s degree with honors from the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities at the same university. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Tel Aviv University. He has been honored by the Israel Science Foundation and recognized on a dozen occasions with the Award for Teaching Excellence from the Technion Institute of Israel. He is the author of numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and of several books, including “Interpreting Conflict – The Israeli-Palestinian Negotiation at Camp David II and Beyond,” New York, Peter Lang Publisher, 2005.

The event was organized by the Department of International Studies.
