Graduate Wins Award in the "Historias del Ceibal" Contest

December 5, 2011
Matilde Martí, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Program in Journalism and Head of Content for the “In Situ” website of the School of Communication and Design, won the print/digital media category of the “Historias del Ceibal” contest organized by Plan Ceibal as part of the Rayuela Project, with support from the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank). She was awarded the prize for her proposal to document the “Aurora Project.”

The contest aimed to solicit proposals for news articles on the integration of the Ceibal Plan into Uruguayan social life. The “Aurora Project” involves the installation of ten antennas in the rural area of the city of Tala, Canelones, to receive the signal. Currently, 250 people benefit from this project, including XO users and rural producers, with free access to the Internet and instant messaging. This was made possible thanks to a group of volunteers from Plan Ceibal and the Tala Rural Development Society.

Ms. Martí will sign a contract under which she will have three months to complete the corresponding article.
