Startups supported by the CIE were selected as among the 15 top picks of the year in a contest held by the El Observador website

These startups, which were incubated and supported by the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), were selected as among the 15 most outstanding startups of 2012 in Uruguay in a contest organized by the El Observador website. Readers of the website had until December 20 to vote for the best startup.

ComparTeVe, founded by Maximiliano Schatz, a graduate of the Electronics Engineering program, is a startup that is the first app in Latin America to integrate non-traditional data into audience measurement via smartphones.

Woow, by Leonardo Silveira, a graduate of the Bachelor’s in Management and Administration program, Martín Giura, a student in the same program, and Martín Larre, a graduate of the Marketing Analyst program, is Uruguay’s first group-buying website that offers significant discounts.

ViperMed, by Ignacio Oliveri, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, aims to improve the work of doctors and physical therapists by allowing them to maintain remote contact with their patients. This enables them to prescribe treatments and evaluate progress while reducing healthcare costs.
