He presented three paintings, each measuring 57 x 40 centimeters, created using a mixed-media technique that incorporates cement, gold paint, and varnish on a natural white Hahnemühle paper support.
Benites, who was selected to participate in a two-month artist residency in China, explained that his work "addresses cities and urban planning" and that he is interested in "challenging and bringing into question systems of uncontrolled growth, lack of planning, ghettos, and social exclusion."
"This series of paintings depicts 'segregation, coexistence, and the overlapping of intertwined urban fabrics,'" he added.
