In an interview with the In Situ website, Mr. Tambucho explained what it’s like to produce “the first archival program on Uruguayan television.” He added that “some describe it as a comedy show, but purists believe that comedy shows are sketch shows starring actors; I believe that Bendita TV creates humor through mistakes.”
Tambucho has been working on Bendita TV since October 2005, during its pre-production phase. The first episode aired in March 2006, where he served as executive producer. “The show has grown just as our archive has grown,” he stated. “The more shows you record and the more hours you accumulate, the more contradictions you find in certain characters, the more angles you find on certain topics. What began as a simple blooper show evolved into a program that, in addition to bloopers, also features current affairs reports that tackle sensitive issues.”
