During the meeting, organized by UNESCO and the Avina Foundation, each country presented the activities carried out in 2014. Participating countries included Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
Cr. Bello and Dr. Néstor Mazzeo, a researcher from the Department of Ecology and Evolution at the University Center of the Eastern Region, presented the results of the workshop “Livestock and Climate Variability,” which took place in Montevideo in November 2014.
The workshop was attended by 30 participants from the livestock sector, including officials from the Ministry of Livestock, the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA), and livestock producers.
Representing Universidad ORT Uruguay Dr. Francisco Rosas, who served as the workshop’s organizer and facilitator, and Agr. Eng. Jorge Acosta, who presented the National Meat Institute’s (INAC) perspective on meat markets and the agreement INAC signed with Alianza Pastizales to promote natural pasture meat production.
During the meeting held in Argentina, preparations began for the conference of the Regional Center for Climate Change and Decision-Making, which will take place in August 2015 in Uruguay.
