The students participated in the following activities:
-A visit to the Plan Ceibal facilities, where they were welcomed by Mauro Carballo, M.A., head of Educational Resources and Platforms.
-A visit to Zonamérica, where its vice president, Isidoro Hodara, B.A., a professor of International Trade at the school, gave a talk on “The Zonamérica Business Model.”
-Visit to the company Despegar.com, where the regional manager for Uruguay, Fernando Velázquez, gave a presentation titled “How Despegar.com Transformed the Travel Industry in Latin America.”
They attended the following lectures at the faculty:
March 16:
“Entrepreneurship in Uruguay” led by Juan Ravecca, CEO and co-founder of the Kinko supermarket chain, and Nicolás Torres, the company’s business manager.
March 17:
- “The Challenges of Higher Education in Uruguay,” led by Mag. Liliana Jabif, academic coordinator of the Center for Continuing Education in Higher Education (CAES) at the Institute of Education, Universidad ORT Uruguay.
- “Infrastructure, Logistics, and Policies: The Success Story of Uruguay,” presented by Ing. Juan Opertti, Director for South America at Katoen Natie.
- “Uruguay’s revolutionary online ordering system: Pedidos ya!”, presented by Ariel Burschtin, CEO and co-founder of the company.
- Discussion of the Parmalat Uruguay case led by Enrique Kramer, academic coordinator of the Management Department at the faculty.
