In December 2015, the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the Republic published Working Paper No. 12/15 , “The Trade Impact of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures on Exports: The Case of Beef and Genetically Modified Agricultural Products (GMOs), authored by Natalia Ferreira-Coímbra, a lecturer and researcher in that department, and Juan Labraga, an associate professor of International Trade at the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences.
