Chapter published in the book *Improving Access and Quality of Public Services in Latin America: To Govern and to Serve*

In January 2017, Palgrave Macmillan US published the book *Improving Access and Quality of Public Services in Latin America: To Govern and to Serve*, which includes the chapter “Understanding the Effects of Educational Governance in Chile and Uruguay”; among its authors is Dr. Denise Vaillant, academic secretary of the Institute of Education.

The article was co-authored by Dr. María Ester Mancebo, a professor and researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of the Republic, and Cecilia Llambí, Gabriela González, and Leticia Piñeyro, researchers at the Catholic University of Uruguay.

The book’s editors are Guillermo Perry and Ramona Angelescu Naqvi.
