The school selected advanced students from its design programs to participate in an experience focused on collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and the design and production of a handcrafted product with significant added value in terms of design and aesthetic-functional innovation. The product is developed in pairs: one student working alongside one artisan. Both work from their professional perspectives to conceive and build an object to be exhibited in the showcase room that HechoAcá will feature in its next edition in September 2008. The development and construction process will be documented by the designer from the sketches to the final product, using images and explanatory texts on a rigid graphic panel (70x40cm). To this end, the organization will facilitate the artisan-designer pairing and, in collaboration with ORT University, will oversee the process.
Projects will be developed between May 8 and June 19. The designer must commit to an average of at least 6 hours per week over the 5 weeks of work alongside the artisan with whom they form the pair.
As a result of the simultaneous call for applications directed at design students and artisans, the following pairs were formed:
1) Designer: Laura Karpoff - Industrial Design, Artisan: Juan Pacheco - Stone and Metal
2) Designer: Alfonso Rosso - Industrial Design, Artisan: Sara Barruzzo - Glass
3) Designer: Patricia Pijuán - Industrial Design, Artisan: Gustavo Luzardo - Wood
4) Designer: Carolina Zaffaroni - Industrial Design, Artisan: Helene Apfelbaum - Porcelain and Glass
5) Designer: Santiago Maggioli - Industrial Design, Artisan: Lilian Gianneceltini - Ceramics
6) Designer: Valentina Belassi - Fashion Design, Artisan: Miriam Bellone - Wool
