Master's Degree in Engineering (Research Track)

March 2, 2009
The School of Engineering has launched a two-year Master’s in Engineering by Research, which began on March 23. This graduate program, designed for university professionals in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, or systems, aims to train participants in scientific and technological research through advanced courses designed to place them at the forefront or state-of-the-art of one or more areas of knowledge, and through the development of a thesis.

The research groups—within one of which each student conducts their work—are located within the engineering disciplines offered by the School: Electronics, Telecommunications, or Systems.

Graduates achieve a sufficient level of mastery in a specific field to critically evaluate the current state of the art and contribute at least one opportunity and foundation for the original development or application of ideas. They also develop learning skills that enable them to continue their education at the doctoral level.

Scheduled activities may include:

- Regular or intensive courses, offered by the institution and taught by faculty members or visiting professors. Credits may also be awarded for courses offered within the framework of other graduate programs.

- Seminars and directed studies, organized so that each student engages with the work of research groups as well as that of other candidates, in addition to studying specialized literature in various fields of activity.

- Special activities, such as development or laboratory projects.

- Internships, to be carried out in laboratories or companies, where the active and creative application of knowledge is essential.
