A company founded by female graduates was selected as a finalist in the 2009 Cartier Women's Initiative Awards

July 23, 2009
The business plan for the web design agency "PRO Internacional," submitted by Magdalena Rodríguez, a graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, and Rosario Monteverde, a graduate with a degree in Systems Engineering, was selected as one of the 15 finalists in the 2009 Cartier Women's Initiative Awards competition.

The awards ceremony, which the graduates will attend, will take place in France this October, with only one award being presented per continent. PRO Internacional is among the top three finalists representing Latin America, marking the first time Uruguay has been represented at this event.

The awards ceremony for the winners will be held as part of the international forum The Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society (www.womens-forum.com), which features globally recognized figures (including Nobel Prize laureates, among others).

PRO Internacional offers comprehensive web design solutions for businesses, ranging from initial steps in the digital realm to e-commerce and multimedia applications. It recently established itself as a company that successfully graduated from Ingenio (after a two-year incubation period), thus becoming a model and benchmark for the entrepreneurial community. In June 2008, it received approval from the Fondo Emprender to secure capital investment and launch a major international expansion campaign. As a result, PRO Internacional began receiving funding from the Inter-American Development Bank.

The Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards is an initiative organized since 2006 by Cartier and the Women’s Forum, with sponsorship from McKinsey & Co. and INSEAD.
