The workshop was both theoretical and hands-on, during which the instructor explained and demonstrated how to apply various paint products to achieve different effects and finishes.
During the course, each participant will be provided with materials to create a set of 6 samples on cardboard, which they will produce themselves under the guidance of the instructor. The instructor will also provide theoretical information about the products to be applied and demonstrate other decorative effects to complement those the students create through hands-on practice.
Gabriela Espasandín studied painting and drawing in the workshops of Ana Valverde, Nelson Ramos, and Sergio Curto. The use of color and various materials sparked her curiosity, and as a complement to these early activities, she ventured into decorative painting and fresh and dried floral arrangements. Her constant pursuit of creative art, innovation in techniques, materials, and trends led her to take specialized courses abroad at The Kenneth Turner Floral School in London and at Decorative Arts and Crafts in Los Angeles, California. A member of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters and the Cleo Art Club, she participates annually in the major shows and exhibitions held in Uruguay on this subject. Her distinctive style combines painting, stenciling, trompe l’oeil, decoupage, patinas , and fresh and dried floral arrangements, making her work a presence in private homes as well as the leading restaurants and hotels in Montevideo and Punta del Este, and in rural establishments.
