Conference: "Biotechnology Developments in Agriculture: Monsanto's Areas of Focus"

On Thursday, April 29, the lecture “Biotechnology Developments in Agriculture: Monsanto’s Areas of Focus” was held in the Communication Auditorium. The lecture was presented by Dr. Clara Rubinstein, head of Scientific Affairs at Monsanto Argentina for the Southern Latin America region. The event was organized by the Biotechnology Coordination Office of the School of Engineering.


Rubinstein holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (Molecular Genetics). She completed her doctoral thesis at the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Molecular Biology, focusing on the molecular genetics of Bacillus thuringiensis. She joined the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) as a staff scientist in 1991, working at the Leloir Institute of Biochemical Research and at the University of Buenos Aires until 2000. During this period, he published his work in international journals, trained researchers, and taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Buenos Aires. Since 1999, he has coordinated the Biotechnology division of ILSI Argentina (International Life Sciences Institute), and since 2002, he has been responsible for the Scientific Affairs division of Monsanto Argentina for the Southern Latin America region. In recent years, he has specialized in the Food Safety Assessment of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms), serving as a member of the Advisory Committee of Argentina’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food on behalf of the Argentine Seed Association.
