MBA Reaches Its Highest-Ever Ranking in the América Economía Ranking

For more than 20 years, the graduate program has been the only one in the country to appear in international rankings. It was also included in the QS Top MBA rankings for Executive MBAs.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) Universidad ORT Uruguay at Universidad ORT Uruguay 19th in the region in the América Economía magazine rankings, published on May 17, 2018. For more than two decades, it has remained the only MBA program in the country to be recognized among the best in Latin America. This is the highest ranking the program has ever achieved.

The assessment is based on four key areas of MBA programs and their respective business schools: academic strength, knowledge production, internationalization and diversity, and networking power (see details on how the rankings are compiled).

ORT's MBA program ranks among the top 10 in the region in terms of the quality and variety of its international exchange programs, factors that are included in the internationalization and diversity metric.

According to the academic coordinator, Dr. Luis Silva Domingo, among other MBA exchange options, "the dual degree program with the Master of International Business at Florida International University in the United States stands out; the immersion week in Silicon Valley, United States; student and faculty participation in ESAN University’s International Week in Lima, Peru; the John Molson MBA International Case Competition in Montreal, Canada; and consulting projects in various countries (including the Dominican Republic and Germany) conducted in partnership with the University of San Diego."

In terms of business research output, the ranking placed ORT’s MBA program among the top 15 in the region (as it did in 2017). This category measures the production and dissemination of high-quality articles published in indexed international journals and case studies.

Top MBA Rankings for Executive MBAs

On April 26, QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) released its Top MBA ranking for Executive MBAs, which placed ORT’s MBA program in the 101–110 range globally.

The ranking placed the university's MBA program in 5th place in the region, alongside executive MBA programs from prestigious Latin American business schools such as the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, FIA Business School,Adolfo Ibáñez University, and ESE Business School.

This ranking is based on specific factors that prospective Executive MBA students consider. These include: career outcomes, diversity, employer reputation, executive profile, and thought leadership. ORT’s MBA program stood out particularly in the categories of employer reputation and thought leadership
