The Culture, Politics, and Society Group invites you to a discussion on the Francophonie as a project of identity.

With a focus on culture, the social sciences, and the humanities, the aim is to foster a meaningful and informed discussion about what the Francophonie is as an identity-building project, how it differs from other similar constructs, and, finally, what some of its defining characteristics are.

  • Dr. Sebastián Moreno

    Associate Professor of Culture and Society in the School of Administration and Social Sciences at Universidad ORT Uruguay in Universidad ORT Uruguay, where he also coordinates the Culture, Politics, and Society Research Center. 

  • Juan Manuel Montoro, M.A.

    He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from the Catholic University of Uruguay, a Master’s degree in Semiotics from the University of Bologna (Italy), and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Sports and Movement Sciences at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland).

  • Moderator: Virginia Delisante

    Bachelor’s degree in International Studies, Master’s degree in International Relations and European Studies (from the University of Lisbon), and Ph.D. candidate in History, Security, and Defense Studies (ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute).

    She is the associate coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in International Studies, an associate professor for final projects, the coordinator of the Jean Monnet "Thinking Europe" module, and a faculty member in the School of Administration and Social Sciences.

  • Efouka Lontange

    Co-founder of Triangulación Kultural, director of the Ballet Africano de Montevideo, and member of Afro Poético.
