The Uruguayan Society of Economists invites you to its "Agenda Dialogue" series, which will examine the process of awarding television rights for Uruguayan soccer—a key issue at the intersection of sports, economics, and regulation.

The discussion will cover the various possible allocation mechanisms, the role of competition in the bidding for rights, and its implications for prices, product quality, and consumer access. It will also address the incentives of the various stakeholders—clubs, companies, and regulators—and the potential consequences in terms of efficiency and welfare.

  • Dr. Juan Dubra

    Ph.D. in Economics. Professor and researcher at the University of Montevideo, specializing in economic theory and industrial organization, with extensive experience in market analysis and regulation.

  • Dr. Sebastián Fleitas

    Ph.D. in Economics. Researcher and professor at the Catholic University of Chile, specializing in industrial organization and applied economics, with a focus on competition, regulation, and market analysis.

  • Moderator: Luciana Cantera

    Professor in the School of Social Sciences at the University of the Republic and teaching assistant in the Department of Economics.

    She has a Bachelor's degree in Economics and has Master's has in Economics, both from the University of the Republic. has also has Master's degree in Sports Management from Pompeu Fabra University (Spain).
