“This has been a year of consolidation,” said Dr. Gaston J. Labadie, dean of the School of Management and Social Sciences, during the 2023 Faculty Awards Ceremony.
The event took place on Friday, December 15. It was held in a hybrid format: some participants attended in person at the Pocitos Campus of Universidad ORT Uruguay others participated online via HyFlex®.
To acknowledge once again

Dr. Nicolás Gambetta received the Award for Teaching Excellence (graduate and executive programs), which he also won 11 years ago.
“Thank you very much to my colleagues, the faculty administration, and all of you for being part of our daily lives. I invite you all to continue improving our teaching, which is incredibly rewarding,” said Gambetta.
The Teaching Profession

“It is an honor to have been part of this institution for so many years. For me, being a teacher is much more than just teaching classes; it is about inspiring our students and awakening in them something they don’t even know they have—that potential,” said Gabriela Peréz Sbrocca, Esq., after receiving the Award for Teaching Excellence (undergraduate programs).
The thrill of the journey
Erika Lanzetta received the Award for Teaching Excellence (short-term programs).
“Thank you—you really touch my heart. With each passing day, I’m more convinced that I made the right decision when I accepted the invitation to teach at ORT,” said Lanzetta.
Vocation and Recognition

“It’s truly an honor to receive an award for something you love so much. This has never happened to me before, and I don’t know how many people experience it. I’m very moved. I think I’ve found my calling,” said Gilberto Pratto upon receiving the Newcomer/Recognition Award for Teaching Excellence.
The connection to the university
The Award for Excellence in Thesis Advising was presented to Lucía Kröner, who said, “I am deeply moved. I didn’t expect this, and I am so grateful to the institution, which has always supported me. I’ve always had a wonderful connection with ORT.”
Conducting research as a team

The recipient of the Academic Research and Production Award was Dr. Flavia Roldán.
“Research involves working on your own, but it also involves collaborating with colleagues. In the Department of Economics, you can always find someone willing to lend a hand,” said Roldán.
Working to make sure everything runs smoothly

The award for Lifetime Achievement and Contribution to the Faculty was presented to Cecilia Bello, who expressed her gratitude and noted:
“What I like most is being that person dressed in black backstage, making sure everything is in order so the performers can shine, and if something goes wrong during the show, stepping in to fix it without anyone noticing.”
Acknowledgments and Dedication

The Outstanding Department Award went to the Department of Mathematics. It was accepted by the department chair, Dr. Erik Caseres.
“I’m truly grateful. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of all the professors in the department, and of course, a special thanks to Prof. Hartmann. I’ll continue to do my best to do things the right way,” he said.
