The National Energy Efficiency Award, presented since 2009, is a public recognition of institutions, agencies, companies, and initiatives for their efforts and achievements in energy efficiency. In the 2024 edition, 29 applicants participated in seven categories.

The award ceremony took place on October 25in the auditorium of the Executive Tower Annex Building, attended by government officials and representatives from institutions, companies, and educational centers across the country.
At the ceremony, after receiving the award, the Architect Gastón Boero, dean of the ORT School of Architecture, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and congratulated both the ministry and the administration, “because these awards serve as an incentive for all members of society, regardless of our social standing or the various responsibilities we hold, to begin taking action.” The dean added:
“Because, when taken together, our individual actions transform us. And perhaps that is how we can actually achieve this great goal of making Uruguay sustainable in the short term.”

“In particular, as far as we are concerned—that is, when it comes to education—we are firm believers that education has the power to change people. This is a treasure we possess, but one we must promote,” added Architect Boero.
