This year's event was held virtually and drew 36 companies and more than 750 visitors, who had the opportunity to learn about the industry, explore job openings, and submit their resumes.
This initiative aims to create more and better opportunities for students, and it also serves as a platform for university-industry collaboration, with the goal of contributing to the sector’s development and forging new partnerships.
The event began with remarks by the dean of the school, Eduardo Mangarelli, who welcomed the attendees and highlighted the participation not only of the programs in the School of Engineering but also those in Design and Animation and Video Games.
He then gave the floor to the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Dr. Pablo Mieres, who highlighted the institution’s efforts to maintain this forum for dialogue during a particularly difficult year and stated that “a significant portion of future jobs will be linked to the technology sector, which currently has a 100% employment rate in Uruguay.”
The Fair also featured a variety of talks by participating companies, which covered current topics of interest to the sector, such as data science, digital transformation, and IoT (Internet of Things) solutions, as well as tips and tools for optimizing job searches.
In addition, this new format gave companies access to metrics and statistics on the number of visits to their booths and the number of applications received for job openings.
