Guzmán Lasarte, who holds a degree in Management and Administration from Universidad ORT Uruguay, presented the book*Responsible Influence: From the Atom of Influence to Solidarity in Action*, published by Dunken. The presentation took place on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Pocitos Campus of Universidad ORT Uruguay. Lasarte has worked as a collaborator, teacher, trainer, and consultant in various organizations for over thirty years. He currently focuses on training, conducting seminars and conferences, as well as consulting.

In his book, he develops a method to improve communication in both individuals and organizations. The Responsible Influence method can be applied to all fields and brings together topics linked to various disciplines, from the social sciences to the exact sciences. Lasarte also proposes exercises to incorporate the method, as well as guided meditation practices aimed at controlling automatic and harmful mechanisms.

“The social system is very vulnerable, and we’re going to face many problems if we don’t influence responsibly, said Lasarte, who focused his presentation on analyzing the deep structures of language and noted that we all constantly influence one another, not only through words but also through gestures.

“To understand the method of responsible influence, you have to make a mental shift, Lasarte noted. Everyone simultaneously influences and is influenced. “The responsibility to think well is the possibility of thinking better,” added the graduate in Management and Administration.

Lasarte noted that influencing others responsibly involves being able to question things in order to become, in a way, more sensitive: “What the Responsible Influence method proposes is to have greater sensitivity.”
