An ORT graduate participated in a mentoring program for women leaders in the United States

Paula Gallotti is a systems engineer at ORT and a founding partner of DVelop, a software development company. She was selected to participate in the Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership, a program that connects women entrepreneurs from around the world with female executives in senior leadership roles at major U.S. companies.

Paula Gallotti and Anna Griffin of Juniper NetworksPaula Gallotti, Systems Engineer and a student in the Master's program in Technology Business Management at Universidad ORT Uruguay, was selected by the U.S. Embassy to participate in the program Fortune/U.S. Department of State Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership, which took place between April 22 and May 18, 2013.

The young engineer was nominated for the program for her work as a leading entrepreneur. In 2007, she co-founded DVelop with three college classmates; the company provides consulting services and highly specialized software development. Today, DVelop has team of twenty-five people and exports software to twenty countries.

Fortune/U.S. Department of State Global Women's Mentoring Partnership is designed to enable the selected participants to participate in a mentoring program with a group of successful women in the United States, and then apply what they have learned in their businesses and share the experience with the network of women entrepreneurs in their own countries. Twenty-seven candidates were selected for this edition, two of whom are from Uruguay; there are also representatives from Argentina, China, Ghana, India, Kenya, Mexico, Russia, Serbia, and Vietnam, among others.

Paula first traveled to Washington, where she and the other selected participants met with women who hold senior positions in government, business, academia, civil society, and the media. She then traveled to California, home to Juniper Networks Inc., where she participated in a two-week mentorship program with female executives in the company’s top leadership roles and took part in activities specially designed for her. At the end of the mentorship program, all the selected participants gathered in New York to collectively reflect on their experiences and discuss future leadership opportunities.
