Biotechnology Engineer Honored at the Mujeres por Más Awards

Pía Garat, a biotechnology engineer, was honored at the 2021 Mujeres por Más Awards in the Innovation category, presented by the Argentine NGO Pollera Pantalón.

The "Women for More" Award recognizes women leaders who contribute to the community in the following categories: Health, Civic Engagement, Education, and Innovation.

Pía Garat is the co-founder and CEO of Eolo Pharma, an Argentina-based company dedicated to developing drugs for the treatment of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.

Eolo Pharma, founded by Garat along with three partners (Carlos Batthyány and Carlos Escande, researchers at the Pasteur Institute, and Virginia López, a researcher at the School of Chemistry), is dedicated to the rational design of new compounds for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and atherosclerosis.

The winners were announced on December 5 at a breakfast where they met with the jury. There, they were invited to the awards ceremony, which will take place on March 8, 2022.
