On December 3, 2014, ABENGOA presented its 2014 Internship Program at the School of Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay.

ABENGOA, a leading company in the development of innovative technological solutions for sustainable development, visited the School of Engineering on December 3, 2013, to promote its 2014 Internship Program.

The company implements innovative technological solutions for sustainable development in the energy and environmental sectors, generating electricity from renewable resources, converting biomass into biofuels, and producing drinking water from mar. It operates in various countries and participates in major projects around the world.

In Uruguay, ABENGOA operates through several companies, the best known of which in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector are Teyma and SimosaIT.

Following an agreement signed with the Faculty, in 2013 the company began offering employment opportunities to students in university and technical programs in the fields of information and communications technology.

On this first day, the company reached out to about twenty students who have begun applying for the program. The company estimates that it will be able to hire at least two interns for the remainder of 2013 and open more positions in 2014.

While ABENGOA has technology projects that require a variety of skill sets, the most in-demand roles are in the areas of software development.

The 2014 Internship Program offers paid internships of 6 or 8 hours per day, during which students will be integrated into large-scale software projects and evaluated for potential permanent positions within the company.

The basic requirements for applying to the program are:

- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Be a student at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
- Have a passion for programming.
- Be able to read and write in English.
- Have knowledge of object-oriented programming.

Through the Faculty of Engineering’s Graduate Coordination Office, interested students can contact the company and apply for the 2014 Internship Program.
