On November 12, 2018, the Spanish Cultural Center hosted the year-end event for Repapel, the organization with which Universidad ORT Uruguay to manage paper and cardboard throughout the institution. Representing the ORT Recicla Project at the event were Inés Tiscornia, Sofía Othaix, and María Noel Vico.
The organization recognized our university’s inclusion as a sponsoring institution and, in particular, the commitment of Inés Tiscornia to recycling on campus. They also highlighted the academic’s selfless efforts to raise awareness of Repapel’s work.
Since the beginning of the year, Universidad ORT Uruguay with Repapel, donating all the paper and cardboard collected at the institution—a total of 3,000 kilograms to date. This allows us to track and understand what happens to the recycled waste, highlighting the importance of our efforts.
During the closing ceremony, several achievements from this year were also highlighted, including: 642,676 kilograms of recycled paper, more than 277 educational activities in 59 schools, and more than 160 sponsoring companies.
Repapel takes the materials it collects from companies to Fabitech, where they are used to make toilet paper, reams of paper, notebooks, and cardstock from recycled paper, which are then delivered to schools.
