Faculty members from Universidad ORT Uruguay the National System of Researchers

Currently, 40 faculty members and researchers from Universidad ORT Uruguay the National System of Researchers (SNI).
Researchers at the SNI

The SNI, which operates under the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), promotes the classification and financial support of researchers, the generation of knowledge across all fields, and the strengthening and expansion of the national scientific community.

Faculty of Management and Social Sciences

Thirteen faculty members from the School of Management and Social Sciencesare members of the SNI.

Recently, Dr. Flavia Roldán renewed her Level I membership for three years; Dr. Santiago Acerenza joined the Introductory Level for three years; Dr. Gonzalo Croci joined the Introductory Level for three years; and Dr. Martín Pereyra joined the Introductory Level for three years.

Diego Aboal (Level II researcher, Social Sciences division, Economics and Business sub-division), Nicolás Gambetta (Level I researcher, Social Sciences division, Economics and Business sub-division), Nestor Gandelman (Level III researcher, Social Sciences division, Economics and Business sub-division), Rodrigo Lluberas (Level I Researcher, Social Sciences, Economics and Business), Sebastián Moreno (Beginner-Level Researcher, Social Sciences, Other Social Sciences), Martín Pereyra (entry-level researcher, Social Sciences area, Other Social Sciences subarea), Juan Francisco Rosas (Level I researcher, Social Sciences area, Economics and Business subarea), Marcos Segantini (entry-level researcher, Social Sciences area, Other Social Sciences subarea), and Diego Telias (entry-level researcher, Social Sciences area) are the faculty members of the School of Administration and Social Sciences who remain in the SNI.

Institute of Education

Nine teachers from the Institute of Education are members of the SNI.

In May, Dr. Gabriel Díaz Maggioli, academic coordinator of the Specialization Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and Dr. Mariela Questa-Torterolo, associate academic coordinator of the Master’s in Educational Management and the Master’s in Teacher Training, were selected for promotion to Level I.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gustavo Bentancor, a graduate-level instructor, and Dr. Daisy Imbert, a faculty advisor, were admitted to the SNI at the Entry level. Additionally, Dr. Andrea Tejera Techera, academic coordinator of the Master’s in Educational Management and the Master’s in Trainer Development, was designated to remain at that level.

In 2023, Dr. Denise Vaillant, dean of the Institute of Education, was also re-evaluated by international reviewers and retained her Level III status in the Social Sciences category, under the subcategory of Education Sciences. In 2019, she had been promoted to Level III, becoming the only representative from the field of education at that level.

Dr. Eduardo Rodríguez Zidán, Dr. Lourdes Cardozo Gaibisso, and Dr. Claudia Cabrera Borges are the remaining faculty members at the institute who are part of the SNI at Levels II, I, and Introductory (respectively).

School of Architecture

There are currently four faculty members from the School of Architecture who are part of the SNI: Dr. Paula Cardellino, Architect Guillermo Lockhart Milán, Dr. Laura Moya, Architect, and Dr. Tyana Santini, Architect.

Dr. Cardellino is a Level I researcher (renewed for three years starting in May 2023) in the Humanities area, Art subarea; Architect Lockhart, a beginner-level researcher in the Humanities; Dr. Moya, a Level II researcher (since May 2020) in the Engineering and Technology area, Materials Engineering subarea; and Dr. Santini, a beginner-level researcher in the Social Sciences area, Other Social Sciences subarea.

Faculty of Engineering

Twelve faculty members from the School of Engineering are affiliated with the SNI.

Dr. Cecilia Ortiz, associate professor of Protein Technology and researcher, was promoted to Level I of the SNI for a three-year term in the field of Medical and Health Sciences - Health Biotechnologies, while Dr. Gerardo Matturro, assistant academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Program in Systems and researcher, was reinstated to the SNI at Level I in the Engineering and Technology area.

School of Communication and Design

Prof. Mariana Amieva and M.A. Cecilia Lacruz are the two faculty members from the School of Communication and Design who are part of the SNI. Amieva is an entry-level researcher in the Humanities, subfield of History and Archaeology. Lacruz is a Level I researcher in the Humanities, subfield of Other Humanities.
