The project is part of the "Digital Inclusion" Sectoral Fund program organized by the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) and the Ceibal Foundation.

On May 28, 2018, the panel discussion “Evidence and Challenges for Mobile Learning” was held at the Centro campus. The event served as a forum to present the findings and conclusions of the project“Ubiquitous Learning: Mobile Devices and Learning Ecologies in the Initial Training of Secondary School Teachers in Uruguay,” a study on the use of mobile devices in teacher-training institutions in Uruguay.

The event was led by Dr. Denise Vaillant, academic secretary of the Institute of Education; Dr. Eduardo Rodríguez Zidán, the project’s scientific director; and Dr. Claudia Cabrera and Dr. Juan Pablo Zorrilla, researchers on the project.

The presentation was aimed at education officials, academics, members of public and private research centers, researchers, teachers, and anyone with an interest in the field of education in general.

The study examined the frequency of mobile device use, the types of activities teachers engage in using the technology, the potential and limitations of ubiquitous learning, as well as the perceptions of both teachers and students regarding the usability of the cell phones and computers provided by the Ceibal Plan.

The data presented during the event was gathered from fifteen interviews with teachers, trainers, and students, as well as from a survey conducted in 2017 among 600third-andfourth-yearstudents in the teacher training program.
