On Sunday, May 31, it was announced that the artist Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, known as Christo, had passed away in New York City at the age of 84.
His career spans a long list of completed works and just as many that remain unrealized, yet all share a clear commitment to transcending disciplinary boundaries. His latest work, titled *L'Arc de Triomphe, Envuelto. Project for Paris, Place de l'Étoile*, is scheduled to open on September 18, 2020.
Christo, who was of Hungarian origin, gained international recognition for his land art projects, which consisted of large-scale interventions in natural or built environments.
Most of his works were created in collaboration with his partner and wife, Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon.
The Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, France, will host the exhibition *Christo et Jeanne-Claude. Paris!* from July 1, 2020, to October 19, 2020. Visitors can attend the exhibition despite the pandemic by booking a visit in advance.
